As the World around us unfolds in 2017 with much uncertainty, it is time to brush off the doomsday stories of this weird new trend of global kakistocracies that makes it sometimes hard to stay positive….

But that being said – you have only two choices really: be blue or be bold! I vote for the be bold route – and with social media you have the tools to help your clients, staff and suppliers to stay positive and “on the button”.

Regardless of your industry, with a little time, effort and imagination you can not only keep your clients informed; but make them feel valued – and it may just be that little “extra” that keeps them coming back to you for business…Talk to your clients on your social media profiles, engage with them, get feedback. Think of useful tips on how to save them money or get a better deal. Times are tough but don’t let that stop you develop your community of followers. And remember that we are all in the same boat to some extent so show empathy and light heartedness wherever possible…

Use Twitter for instant information dissemination, just remember to respond promptly on this platform. Take the same info a little further and expand it on your Facebook page too. This platform is one of the most popular platforms for business in Zimbabwe – it is a powerful tool which, when used correctly can target your core market at very little cost either by boosting posts or advertising.

And off course don’t forget to use email & blog on your website to expand on the issues showing you as an industry or thought leader. We are so lucky to have these tools at hand as this is an opportunity to assure your valued clients that you are listening and with them all the way!

If you are unsure where or how to start or do not have the time to do it yourself, please contact me, I can help you! So… on with 2017 – let’s do this … BOLDLY!

PS – Wondering what on earth “kakistocracy” means? It is an entity run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous individual. The word is derived from the Greek word “kakistos” meaning the worst.
